STYLE ICON: SOLANGE KNOWLES

So, after a week of Grammy-related headline grabbing Beyonce news, I started thinking - what happened to Solange?
I've always had a little soft spot for B's younger, cooler and highly underrated sister. Her EP, True was my bath time soundtrack for the whole of last year and my summer wardrobe purely consisted of clashing patterns after watching the Losing You video..
Unless you lived under a rock last year, you will know that her face/style was pretty much in every magazine. My favourite trend will always be monochrome but every time I saw Solange, out went the black and white and in came patterned two pieces and metallic wedges.
Since there's no news of an album release, I decided it was a good excuse to get my daily Solange quota through pretty pictures and some strong styling!

JANUARY FAVOURITES - THE NAIL POLISH EDIT

Nail polishes are something you will find in every room of my house. The collection is endless. One of my New Year's resolutions was to look after my nails. After a few acrylic nightmares, my nails had gotten weak, bendy and generally worse for wear. The past 17 days has been a whirl wind of Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle Salon Strength Treatment and L'OCCITANE Shea Butter Hand Cream. I'm definitely seeing a massive difference already and if you don't already own these items, get your purse out and whip them up!

After a thorough treatment routine, I start debating nail colours. This is generally a long process because I get distracted by some many pretty bottles! For the sake of a shorter blog post - here are my three favourites for this month!

CIATE IN ENCORE* If you're after an alternative to red then this is your shade. It's a beautiful tomato based orange with a muted shine finish. It's long lasting, trans-seasonal and one coat has great opacity!

BARRY M NAIL PAINT IN RED BLACK Barry M can bit a bit iffy with their polishes. I think their collection of colours can be incredible but the durability isn't great. For the price you cannot complain and I can forgive them for this polish because the shade is beautiful - a deep red wine with a high gloss finish. It goes on a bit watery but bare with it. It will build up to a rich dark and opaque colour.

MAYBELLINE COLOURSHOW BROCADES IN WOVEN SKYLINE I don't actually own many Maybelline polishes but this collection caught my eye in the aisles of Superdrug. It's a very unique formula with small and chunky silver glitters in a black base that comes up as a shimmery purple in bright light. I often find that there are two types of glitter polishes - ones that take forever to removes from your nails (normally a finer milled glitter) and ones that are quite easily chipped. This took really well and with a nice coat of Seche Vite, stayed on my hands for a good five days.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!

Today, 90's supermodel, Kate Moss turns 40. When I heard the news, I took to Instagram and posted a photograph of one of Mossy's best moments. Then I thought, why decide on one picture when I can post all the #funkyoffish Kate Moss photographs in a blog post?!

Happy Birthday Kate, you beauty!

THE ROW PRE-FALL 2014

Meet 65 year old Linda Rodin, the latest face (and my new style icon) of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's high fashion line, THE ROW. I have been in awe of these photographs for the past three days. It's might be très cliché but style really is timeless and why should modern day fashion only be for the young?
